Easy Way to Resize Your Jute Rug

Many times we buy oversized rug but do not have any idea how to resize. Or sometimes you try to resize but the method used was improper and wasted the whole thing. You can definitely cut the rug according to desired size but make sure the edges does not fray. Proper cutting method prevents the edges from fraying. Here is the instruction you to follow while cutting a jute rug:

• The desired measurement should be marked on the underside of the jute rug. Cut along the marked line carefully. Use a masking tape for temporary binding along the edge to avoid fraying and repeat the process for another side as well.
  
  
• Carefully remove the masking tape, cut binding tape matching with the length of the rug edge. The binding tape has to be folded under both the sides and then open the tape from one side. Bring together the edge of the rug to the open edge of the binding tape facing each another. Now you can stitch the seam of the binding tape however ensure that the needle goes through the rug weaves.
  
  
• As final step, fold binding tape to the underside of the rug then press flat. The binding tape should not show up on top of the rug. The binding has to stitch to the underside of the rug, make sure the stitching barely catches the weaving of the rug. This will ensure less stitching show up on top of the rug. This fastens the raw edges and prevents from fraying.

Your new size of jute rug is ready. By now you must be ready to experiment the process but before that find the following list of stuffs you will need. Make sure you have it all ready before you start cutting the rug:

• Straight edge
• Pencil
• Shears
• Masking tape
• Heavy thread
• Needle
• 1/2-inch binding tape
