Background
In 1990, Swiss food laboratory reported traces of hydrocarbon in cocoa and coffee beans . This was a matter of serious concern with the European food industry and the public at large. That is the reason there was the need for an appropriate hydrocarbon free fibre lubricant and this led to the creation of jute food grade bags.

Creation of food grade bags
On the basis of results of a research undertaken by Indian Jute Mills Association (IJMA) and Indian Jute Industries' Research Association (IJIRA) to identify a suitable alternative oil, IJIRA developed and patented a special technology based on Rice Bran Oil (RBO II) to manufacture Food Grade Jute Bags. RBO technology
